About The Georgia Regional Sports Council
The Georgia Regional Sports Council is the producer of Cajun Beats & Eats Festival. The National Association of Sports Commissions reported that sports tourism is an $11.4 billion industry, with a growth rate of approximately 4% annually. Despite Atlanta's robust sports tourism infrastructure, East Atlanta and the surrounding counties remain under-represented in this sector. The Georgia Regional Sports Council (GRSC) was founded in 2023 by community leaders in Rockdale County to address this gap, leveraging sports events to drive economic development and increase regional sports activities.
The GRSC aims to enhance the region's sports tourism, targeting a growth in its share from 1.5% to 5% by 2026 and 7% by 2030. The nine-county region, home to over 1.7 million people (15% of Georgia's population), is poised to become a hub for sports tourism, significantly boosting local economies through increased hotel stays, facility leases, and retail spending.
Our mission is to position the GRSC as the epicenter for sporting and special events, driving economic growth, tourism, and recreation by attracting and supporting exceptional national and regional sporting events. As a non-profit, GRSC seeks funding to professionally launch and sustain its initiatives, supported by community leaders and partnerships with surrounding counties.
